"But what about the alien 'possession' of that embryo?" I ask. "How did that happen to the 'new' Uhura?" Andrea I know that my ears are quirked up at this one item. "I have a few theories of my own," Synizn says from his seat, "Sometimes speaking with various other specialists in certain branches of magery can draw forth. It is not my area of expertise, mind you, but I feel that I could ascertain for sure if I examine the remains of Uhura's alien entity down in Sickbay. That, I fear, will have to await until morning...." "Oh?" Kirk blinks, a bit surprised, "So long? Why?" Hmm, guess that the good Captain is rather anxious to go and rescue the missing Uhura...if it is possible. Wants to do it as quickly as possible... Actually, that speaks rather well for him, that concern for his crewmembers. Then again, despite some of his faults, I never heard any of the Kirks called a cowardly, uncaring man (in regards for his crew...at least). There are those detractors out there who will call him everything in the book, all but that..... Synizn looks at the Captain as if he's a dunce for a second, and then seems to remember the relatively newness of awareness of actual magic in this reality. In other words, Kirk still is not aware of how drained I and the other magic users are right now from our ministrations on the Enterprise women. Kirk, meanwhile, is beginning to bristle at that look he'd gotten....but puts it aside as my sometimes bad tempered boyfriend explains. "Captain," he begins, "While the energy I and the other mages comes from the aether about us, it still takes a bit of effort to shape it to our wills when we cast spells. I and the others are rather....tired and worn out from it all." "Oh, I see now." Kirk says, getting an answer to an unasked question on why some of the newcomers seems so listless right now. He remembered reading one or two fantasy novels which actually addressed such issues, but since his main reading interests (rare are the times he actually did recreational reading) lay in other areas....thus it hadn't just sprung to the forefront of his mind for that possibility. Uhura After that diversion, I listen in. Frankly, I was familiar enough with some of the "ins and outs" of magery (my brother Charles was a mage after all) to not have to ask such questions. I frankly had not thought to tell the Captain and the others about such matters. Despite memories and knowledge of this reality I'd found myself transported into, sometimes I take certain things concerning knowledge of the Arte for granted. Shall have to remember to not make assumptions like that, all considered..... So, that said, I am listening to this demifox mage, rather interested myself!. I almost chuckle aloud. It seems that while my unborn child is still way too young to understand what's being said....he'd perked up as he'd felt through his mother he was being talked about. Will have to come up with a proper name for my child here sooner or later. Still, I have quiet a while yet before it becomes an issue. Will probably name the little one after the great grandfather of the "real" Uhura. Speaking of names, I have decided naturally to no longer call myself Fred (or Frederigo), but keep the name "Uhura". However, while I shall keep both the names "Uhura" and "Nyota" (lovely and proud sounding names from Africa), I shan't keep them in the order the original kept them in. No, I shall for now on be known as Uhura Nyota D'Honaire Ah, but back to the task at hand! The alien entity is an energy based entity that could be said to have caused their host's body to become pregnant as Synizn and Spock see it. It needed better "tools" to effect it's surrounding environment....and the Enterprise women seemed to be a good bet, perhaps. Then, upon conception the "parent" entity rushes in and implants it's own version of offspring within the new fetus. The baby alien entity isn't as powerful as it's parent, but is able to displace the fetus' spirit for control of the human fetal body. The unborn fetus' spirit, being so new to the world and Matrix attachment still very strong from just being called into being so soon, was able to "stay around" instead of being severed (as what would have happened to the Enterprise women....more on that here in a bit). It matures very rapidly, the alien entity (much faster than it's organic vehicle, the fetus). Over time it's mental power grows enough to start to influence it's "mother" (except for my case....due to my rather odd origin's....having grown up a man before becoming a woman). Soon enough (in the next couple of days) it could have become powerful enough to be able to be able to function apart from it's organic vehicle. However, the shock of displacement by the "anti-possession" necklaces threw them all into what could be termed a coma. Or perhaps it was so much of a shock that it was like being lobotimized. Oh, an energy based body/mind might be about still be about.....but it could only be termed a vegetable.... "Cannot say that I'm sorry to hear that," I say tartly to myself, feeling a bit of anger at the one entity who'd frightened my unborn so badly.... "You think that a bit of necromancy was involved in as far as the possessing entity?" my new friend, Astra asks Synizn. "Yes, that's exactly what I think is going on here," Synizn says firmly, "This case has some of the earmarks of certain cases that Belboz and his sister told me of! I believe there could have been a bit of spirit channeling....as it where." "And the mage who transformed me probably did it to twit me a bit," I say, nodding to myself. Not even the most powerful of mages can make a soul, so a spirit transplanted into another body would be needed for this rather vile....stab at me.... I go on, explaining it to some at the table what I feel is the case here. "While I may have been uncontrolled by the alien entities while the other women of the Enterprise," I explain, "I fear that that might not have stayed. Eventually my resistance would have crumpled when the entity grew powerful enough." Bet the SOB pretty much knew it would have happened as it had happened. I'd soon have been thrown into the brig with the men, only to watch the women get "possessed".....and realize that the alien entity's voice within my head was getting stronger and stronger..... I explain as much (in much nicer terms, of course). Civilian now that I am (can't blame the Captain for that), certain rules of decorum must be followed when speaking to a captain of a starship! As it is, I see in his and the others of the Enterprise crew gathered here..... I see some are still rather uncomfortable (in the extreme) about magic. Funny, considering it all. The Enterprise deals with the alien and unknown on a regular basis. Then again, this is kind of on the high side of eldritch alien. Welcome to my world, Enterprise....
